Pan-Atlantic University: What You Need to Know

Located in the western part of Nigeria (Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State), the Pan-Atlantic University is a private institution that is popular for providing academic excellence, strong commitment to ethical leadership, and build deep connections to the professional world. It is also a non-profit educational institute.

Meanwhile, the Pan-Atlantic University was first founded in 1991 as a Lagos Business School (LBS). However, it was later approved by the Federal Government in 2002 as Pan-Atlantic University, and made LBS its first school. The school has various campuses including the Ajah Campus, which was completed in 2003 and work commenced on the Ibeju-Lekki Campus in 2010.

Pan-Atlantic University runs several academic units and schools such as the popular Lagos Business School (LBS) as recently mentioned. It also operates the School of Media and Communication (SMC), which was approved in 2006 by the Pan-Atlantic University Council, to recognize the crucial role of this sector towards the shaping of societal values and cultural life.

Meanwhile, the SMC emanated from the Centre for Media and Communication. However, the Pan-Atlantic University went on to open a website that was created by Jess Castellote (a Spanish architect), otherwise known as the Virtual Museum of Modern Nigerian Art, which was just one out of 400 works from 81 artists.

These artists include the popular Aina Onabolu and BruceOnobrakpeya, the pioneering Nigerian pairs, as well as upcoming artists like Richardson Ovbiebo and Babalola Lawson. Furthermore, the EDC marked the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) for the first time in November and December 2011, amongst several other events in Lagos.

Ever since, the EDC has continued to be a hosting venue for GEW in Nigeria. Several years ago (July 2011), British Prime Minister David Cameron, in his speech at the Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos, talked about trade and democracy, speaking in support of an African free trade area, and of increased trade with Britain.

However, the institution formally changed its name to Pan-Atlantic University in May 2013 to avoid clashing names with the African Union’s Pan-Atlantic University. Moving forward, this institution established its first ever undergraduate programs on 17 November 2014 at the school’s new campus in Ibeju-Lekki.

Pan-Atlantic University is also running many partnership deals with several organizations to improve other areas. For instance, there’s a partnership with master card foundation to train Ten thousand women in business and vocational training, amongst others. It is worth noting that in February 2024, Pan-Atlantic University was ranked 54th in Nigeria.
